Myth one: HRT causes breast cancer. The 2002 Women's Health Initiative study created decades of fear; subsequent reanalysis has substantially revised that picture. Risk profile depends heavily on type, dose, route, and your individual history.
Myth two: HRT delays menopause. It doesn't. It treats symptoms; the underlying transition continues.
Myth three: You can't start HRT after 60. You can. Risk-benefit shifts, and the conversation with your clinician matters more, but it isn't categorically off the table.
Myth four: Bioidentical compounded HRT is safer than regulated body-identical HRT. There's no evidence for this and meaningful safety concerns about compounded products.
Myth five: You have to white-knuckle it without HRT to be 'natural'. There is nothing virtuous about suffering through symptoms that have a treatment.
None of this is medical advice. Take it to your clinician.
